School Details
The University of Alabama opened for the admission of students on April 18, 1831, in Tuscaloosa. Extension centers, offering both day and evening classes, were established in Birmingham, Huntsville, Montgomery, Mobile, Dothan, and Gadsden in the first half of the 20th century. The Birmingham and Huntsville centers evolved into new university campuses, which were established in addition to the Tuscaloosa campus. Over four decades, UAB has evolved from an academic extension center into an autonomous, comprehensive research university and academic health center within the University of Alabama System. Its goal is to “Offer a world-class, socially conscious education to diverse students to prepare the next generation of citizens and leaders.”
UAB has established wide-ranging undergraduate and graduate programs. UAB offers access to totally online and blended format degree and certificate programs at all levels that are an extension of UAB’s traditional campus and the values of boldness and innovation. Benefit from the same curriculum taught by the same highly distinguished professors who teach on campus with UAB Online. All online programs implement top technology in a synchronous format that allows students to interact with their professors in real time.
