School Details
Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College is a Roman Catholic, 4-year, liberal arts women’s college located in Mary-of-the-Woods, Indiana. The school was founded in 1840 and was associated with the Sisters of Providence of Saint Mary-of-the-Woods. In 1841, an academy for women was established by Saint Mother Theodore Guerin who was canonized in 2006 by Pope Benedict XVI. SMWC is the oldest Catholic women’s college in the nation. The school was actually the first women’s college to offer journalism courses and degree work for secondary education.
At present, SMWC offers associate, bachelor, and graduate degrees in over 30 majors on-campus and online. SMWC online degrees are designed to be flexible enough that just about anybody can succeed.
