Roger Williams University was founded in 1956 and named after a co-founder of Rhode Island, Roger Williams. It continues today as a private, co-educational liberal arts university located in the town of Bristol, Rhode Island. There is another campus located in Providence, Rhode Island. The school’s roots go back to 1919 when Northeastern University opened a satellite campus in Providence, Rhode Island. After World War II, Rhode Island chartered this campus to become a community college. Eventually, the 2-year college evolved into what is now Roger Williams University. Roger Williams University is a comprehensive University that works to help strengthen society through engaged learning and instruction.
