University of Holy Cross is a private, four-year, not-for-profit institution and is located in New Orleans, Louisiana, on a 16-acre campus in a middle-class residential neighborhood. The university was founded in 1916 as a two-year normal school in the Bywater area of New Orleans. It later became a four-year institution in 1938 and in 1960 it moved to its current location. Men were first admitted to the college in 1967. The college’s mission is "to educate the minds and hearts of undergraduate and graduate students through dedicated service and innovative teaching methods in accordance with the Catholic Church."
University of Holy Cross awards degrees from the associate's to the doctoral leval, including a postbaccalaureate certificate. Several degrees can be earned completely online through the distance learning program.
