Program Details

Southwestern Assemblies of God University offers the Bachelor in Counseling (Pre-Professional), a degree that prepares students for graduate counseling studies and equips them to assume counseling roles in the church and society with a sound biblically based orientation. Students learn basic theories and techniques of counseling in order to function effectively in a counseling ministry and community setting.

Upon completion of this program, students will:

  • Demonstrate knowledge of various approaches of counseling and of major counseling theories and techniques with a special emphasis on those that are biblically congruent.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of typical entrance requirements to graduate counseling programs.
  • Function effectively as a counselor in a church, parachurch or community setting.


Official high school transcript showing date of graduation from an accredited institution or equivalent. Minimum 2.0 GPA. Official transcripts from each college attended (if applicable).
