Schreiner University is a private not-for-profit, four-year, liberal arts institution of higher education, located in the city of Kerrville, Texas. Founded in 1923, Schreiner University is affiliated with the Presbyterian Church. Captain Charles Schreiner, a Texas Ranger, donated land and led the effort to build a high school and junior college. At first, the college focused on military training. However, by the 1970s, military training ended as the school admitted women and became coeducational. As the college curriculum grew, Schreiner College transitioned into a four-year institution and officially became Schreiner University in 2001. The mission of Schreiner University is “a liberal arts institution affiliated by choice and covenant with the Presbyterian Church (USA), is committed to educating students holistically.
