School Details
Milwaukee Area Technical College is a public, two-year institution of higher education, located in the city of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. MATC was founded in 1912 as the Continuation School after Charles McCarthy asked State Legislature to pass a law creating a statewide network of continuation schools. Today, MATC offers classes at campuses in downtown Milwaukee, Oak Creek, West Allis, and Mequon. The Mequon Campus features the largest wind turbine on a college campus in the state.
Milwaukee Area Technical College offers degree, diploma, certificate and apprentice programs. Also offered are community programs, GED, and ESL programs. MATC has bilingual classes that are in English and Spanish. Many students who attend MATC plan to earn a bachelor’s degree by transferring to a four-year college. Accelerated programs are offered for full-time working adults, as well as online programs for degrees, diplomas, and certificates from all of MATC’s schools.
