Program Details
Liberty’s 100% online M.A. in Worship Studies – African-American Worship teaches students how to lead effective and enriching worship that helps bring together diverse congregations in the communal worship experience. Students in this program will learn from world-class and nationally known pastors how to inspire and guide congregations in worship and spiritual growth. Students will also learn how to develop a worship strategy based on biblical, theological and philosophical foundations of worship while learning how to speak to social, inter-generational, and ecclesiastical issues in the black or multicultural church community. Liberty’s online M.A. in Worship Studies specialization in African-American worship highlight practical applications for worshipping with integrity and accountability, leading with authority, and inspiring discipleship. Studies in this program will include a major writing project based on collaborative research designed to refine students’ understanding of these diverse issues in the worship community. Students with interest in focusing their training in worship studies to best meet the needs of African-American and multicultural communities will benefit from this program’s specialized courses, however, this degree will also prepare graduates for the practical worship needs of any church. Graduates will be well-equipped to enter careers as associate chaplains, worship directors, missionaries, music teachers, and worship pastors.
