Program Details

Liberty’s 100% online Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) in Middle Education – Social Sciences is one of the first completely online social sciences grades teaching licensure programs approved by the Virginia Department of Education for teacher preparation. Liberty’s School of Education is accredited by NCATE through CAEP, providing further support for this program’s excellence for teaching licensure. Students who want to be licensed middle school teachers with an emphasis on social studies will gain the benefit of the B.Ed.’s 100% online, in-depth studies of teaching methods for economics, American history, world history, and other social issues topics. Students will learn how to assess and address students’ diverse learning styles and competency levels in reading and writing, as well as how to create an engaging and effective learning environment. Liberty’s online B.Ed. will provide a foundation of middle grades teaching competencies, a wide-based understanding of essential learning theory, and a hands-on approach to practice with the program’s practicum and student teaching. This hands-on work in a local school will help students apply their skills and knowledge to a real classroom while meeting requirements for licensure. Students who cannot make a traditional on-campus teaching licensure program work for their schedule will benefit from Liberty’s 100% online academics and hands-on experience. Graduates of Liberty’s B.Ed. in Middle Education – Social Sciences will have the skills and credentials they need to pursue roles such as licensed Middle Grades Social Sciences teachers, middle grades curriculum coordinators, private school teachers, and K-12 education consultants.
