Advanced Standing Master of Social Work / Individual & Family Clinical
Liberty University

Program Details

Liberty University’s online Advanced Standing Master of Social Work (MSW) – Individual and Family Clinical cognate can help students develop the clinical skills needed to promote the well-being of individuals, families, and communities through research-informed practice. This MSW is designed for students who hold a Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) or Bachelor of Science in Social Work (BSSW) from a program accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE). By pursuing the Advanced Standing MSW, students can earn their degree faster than a traditional MSW program – saving them time and money! Throughout the program, students can learn to address challenges in mental health, substance abuse, diagnosis, and therapeutic practice. In addition to taking online courses, students will complete at least 600 hours of field experience under the supervision of a master’s-level social worker – providing a valuable opportunity to gain hands-on skills that are relevant to many settings, including schools, hospitals, adoption agencies, nursing homes, group homes, and mental health clinics. Upon graduation, students can prepare to pursue roles as adoption consultants, agency directors, child and family social workers, clinical social workers, elementary and secondary school social workers, nonprofit organization directors, social work supervisors, and more.
