Program Details

In the online AA in Communication degree program from Bristol Community College, students explore the fundamentals of human communication in theory and practice, analyze the historic and contemporary role of mass media and emerging new media in an increasingly diverse society, develop communication skills, and prepare to transfer to a four-year college or university communication program. Upon graduation, students are able to:

• Explain fundamental theoretical concepts related to human communication
• Apply fundamental theoretical concepts to specific contexts to help achieve effective communication
• ​Identify key figures and events related to the development of major mass media and emerging new media
• ​Explain the potential effects of media on an increasingly diverse society
• Demonstrate oral, written, and mediated communication skills
• ​Explain ethical issues related to interpersonal, intercultural, group, organizational, and public communication and create strategies to help address some of those issues
• ​Research a communication-related career that matches their skill set and/or interests in this rapidly-changing field
