About Linfield University

Although Linfield traces its roots to the Oregon City College, it wasn’t until 1858 that the Baptist College at McMinnville was chartered by the Oregon Territorial Legislature. The college was later named McMinnville College. In 1922 when Frances Ross Linfield gave her properties in Spokane, Washington, to the school, the Board of Trustees renamed the college in honor of Mrs. Linfield’s late husband, the Rev. George Fisher Linfield. The college maintains its American Baptist heritage, although faculty, students and staff are not bound by religious requirements.

Linfield offers:

  • Less than one year certificate
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Postbaccalaureate certificate

The Online and Continuing Education Program at Linfield University allows students to earn a degree at their own pace. GetEducated Team Takes
Tony’s Take

Linfield’s biggest strength is its people. Professors and staff are easy to reach and ready to help. Students are known by name, and classes feel personal. Support is steady across the school, not just in one office.

Classes are discussion-based and still academically strong. Small class sizes make it easier to connect with professors and get direct feedback. Graduates can move into career-focused work soon after finishing, which adds to Linfield’s appeal.

For online learners, the pace can work well with busy lives. A 6-credit term load can fit around work and family time. Cost can still be a challenge, even with strong teaching and support.
