About New York University

Secretary of the Treasury for both Presidents Thomas Jefferson and James Madison, Albert Gallatin had a vision to establish an educational center in New York City. In 1831, New York University was founded and first educated 158 students. Today, the private, not-for-profit University incorporates 18 schools and colleges at various locations in Manhattan in addition to satellite campuses in Africa, Asia, Europe, and South America. Students from across the United States and from more than 130 foreign countries attend New York University.

NYU houses online opportunities for students through the New York University School of Continuing and Professional Studies. Founded in 1934, NYU-SCPS offers undergraduate, graduate, and noncredit programs for career-driven students. Students interested in online learning can choose from graduate degrees and certificate programs.
