Western New Mexico University is a public university that is located on an 80-acre campus in Silver City, New Mexico. WNMU is part of a small, historic southwestern community with a relaxed atmosphere, which gives students the chance to learn about a diverse culture and population. Silver City’s great weather and scenic environment provide outdoor recreational opportunities. Western New Mexico University was first established in 1893, as the New Mexico Normal School. Throughout the decades, the university has continued to accommodate growth, expanding programs and constructing necessary facilities. Today, the four-year public university promotes a vision “as a leader among peer institutions as evidenced by measurable success in meeting the education, research, and service needs” of students.
Western New Mexico University offers associate’s, bachelor’s, and master’s degrees and certificate programs. Western New Mexico University maintains partnerships with other colleges and universities and offers tuition waivers and easy transfer guidelines. Furthermore, several pre-professional programs exist as a result of partnerships with other New Mexico universities. Online classes and programs are available and are fully accredited. The online classroom environment is asynchronous. However, students complete coursework within a set schedule that follows deadlines established by the instructor. Online degree programs are also available. WNMU online degrees are convenient and affordable, taught by highly trained faculty in small classes.
