Master of Science in Nursing / Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (BSN to MSN)
Western Governors University

Program Details

WGU’s Master of Science in Nursing—Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) program was designed to equip BSN-prepared nurses with the skills and credentials necessary to provide psychiatric mental health care to their communities. Developed to meet an ever-growing need for mental health care providers and certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), this evidence- and competency-based program combines online coursework with in-person clinical experiences. Courses prepare students to assess individuals across the lifespan for mental health conditions, provide mental health care plans for individuals, families, and populations with mental health conditions, and safely prescribe psychiatric medications.

WGU offers low, flat-rate tuition that helps make earning a degree more affordable. Our programs are designed for working adults, delivering unparalleled flexibility and allowing students to complete coursework whenever and wherever works best for their schedules. Students also benefit from our competency-based learning model, which lets them complete most courses as quickly as they prove mastery of the material, making it possible to accelerate their progress and potentially graduate faster. Program Mentors work one-on-one with WGU students, providing dedicated coaching, guidance, and support from enrollment through graduation and beyond.
