Western Governors University

Program Details

Developed to meet an ever-growing need for qualified primary healthcare professionals, WGU’s Master of Science, Family Nurse Practitioner program was designed to equip BSN-prepared nurses with the skills and credentials necessary to provide primary care to their communities. This evidence- and competency-based program combines online coursework with in-person clinical experiences to ensure that students are ready to lead in a variety of care facilities. Courses focus on leadership and management, care for patients and populations across the lifespan, advanced pharmacology, advanced nursing, informatics, and quality outcomes in value-based care. Graduates of this program will be prepared to fill leadership roles in many fields, including women’s health, urgent care, family practice, outpatient facilities, and specialized care.

WGU offers low, flat-rate tuition that’s about half of what students pay at other online universities. Our degree programs deliver unparalleled flexibility through our online, competency-based curriculum, which lets students complete most courses as quickly as they prove mastery of the material. All students are assigned a Program Mentor who works one-on-one with them, providing dedicated coaching, guidance, and support from enrollment through graduation.
