Program Details

The College of Engineering at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University offers both a Master of Science and a Master of Engineering in Electrical Engineering. The MS includes a thesis, and is recommended for all students interested in pursuing a PhD degree. The ME is a non-thesis option which includes an oral exam consisting of either a presentation of a project by the student or questions covering course work from the examination committee. The ME option is not recommended for students wishing to pursue a PhD.
