Program Details

Valdosta University offers an online Education Specialist degree in Coaching Pedagogy in Physical Education. Students learn about the different aspects of coaching and health education, preparing to teach their own students these aspects as well. Graduates will be prepared for career advancement in areas of athletics, coaching, and directing.


  • Must hold a minimum of a master’s degree from a regionally accredited institution
  • Minimum graduate cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 Scale
  • Applicants having a cumulative GGPA between 2.75 and 2.99 on a 4.0 scale must submit a Graduate Record Examination (GRE) or Miller Analogies Test (MAT) score
  • Must hold a valid level four or higher teaching certificate in health, physical education, or both in Georgia or a reciprocal state
  • This applied graduate program requires applicants to be directly involved in coaching an athletic sport and have access to student-athletes for observational analysis purposes
  • Current resume or curriculum vita
  • Three recommendations from professionals familiar with the candidate's professional and/or academic background
  • 500 word writing sample
