Program Details

The online Graduate Certificate in Natural Language Technology program focuses on the creation of software that can analyze and understand human languages. The curriculum covers:

  • The science behind predictive text messaging, speech recognition, dialogue systems, and information extraction
  • Techniques and algorithms for associating surface-level structures and information with natural language corpora
  • Probability and statistics as they relate to the discipline
  • Applications of natural language technologies in biomedical informatics, litigation support, media and advertising, and other fields 

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree
  • At least two years of programming experience in one or more of the following: C, C++, Java, Perl or Python (knowledge of Perl or Python is a plus, but not required)
  • Knowledge of probability and statistics (equivalent to STAT 390 at the UW)
  • Knowledge of data structures and algorithms (equivalent to CSE 373 at the UW)
