There is a growing need for primary mental health care providers as the mental health stigma disappears and more psychiatrists reach retirement age.  This online Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner Master’s degree program from the University of Missouri-Columbia will prepare nurses to meet this need. 

In this online psychiatric nursing program, students gain the knowledge and skills needed to provide evidence based primary mental health care to patients of all ages and their families.  You will study independent and interdependent decision-making, managing psychotropic mediations, and delivering both psychotherapeutic and psychoeducation interventions.  Courses emphasize rural and underserved populations.  Graduates will be able to work in primary care settings.
