Program Details

The online bachelor’s in Social Work focuses on skills and knowledge related to the impact of social work on families, communities, and institutions. Students will gain a foundational understanding of social justice issues in order to enter Social Work practice.

Opportunities exist for hands-on experience through service learning and practicum courses. An optional track is available in Drug and Alcohol Counseling with additional credit requirements. Graduates will be able to enter the UofL master’s in Social Work program with Advanced Standing, allowing the graduate degree to be completed with half the credits of the traditional track.

Social Work graduates will be able to address community issues in a variety of settings including:

  • Public school systems
  • Hospitals and nursing homes
  • Government agencies
  • Charitable organizations
  • Nonprofits
  • Police departments
  • Courts
