The University of Illinois at Chicago is a public state university located in Chicago, Illinois. Founded in 1858, UIC began as a private medical college known as the Chicago College of Pharmacy. UIC was also affiliated with the College of Physicians and Surgeons and the Columbian College of Dentistry. These three schools then became known as the Colleges of Medicine, Dentistry and Pharmacy within the University of Illinois in 1913. The University of Illinois as Chicago holds Carnegie Research 1 institution status.
UIC offers a multitude of degree programs at the bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral level within several areas of study such as business, health administration, biology and psychology. Certificate programs are also available, as well as online degree programs.
