Master of Social Work / Advanced Standing
University of Central Florida

Program Details

The University of Central Florida offers an online Master of Social Work degree with an Advanced Standing option.  This degree is specifically designed for students who have completed a Bachelor of Social Work in the last six years from an accredited institution and meet additional GPA and credit hour requirements.  With the Advanced Standing track, you will not have to complete as many credit hours and will be able to finish in four semesters rather than three years.

The online Master of Social Work is more than just an investment in your professional future– it’s a powerful resource for improving quality of life for those within underserved or at-risk populations.  Students develop the therapeutic skills needed to successfully engage clients and assist with setting and prioritizing goals.  They learn how to advocate for the needs of others, promoting the overall wellness of children and families in a range of settings, and learn to pursue positive social change through advanced social work practice.  The demand for highly trained professional social workers has grown in recent years, and career opportunities abound for graduates.  Graduates can seek employment from a variety of organizations and industries, such as:

  • public school districts
  • substance abuse treatment programs
  • nursing homes
  • long-term care facilities
  • home care agencies and hospices
  • government agencies, legislative offices and research institutions
