Graduate Certificate in Mineral Processing & Extractive Metallurgy
University of Arizona

Program Details

The online Graduate Certificate in Mineral Processing & Extractive Metallurgy program prepares students to work in mineral extraction, a nuanced branch of mining and geological engineering that requires a specialized, practical skill-set.  Students will learn about the current methods of ore and mineral processing to efficiently harvest the metals and materials while examining both the scientific and financial sides of mineral extraction and refinement, so they have a complete perspective on the challenges of geological processing.  Graduates will be familiar with the impact mineral extraction and processing has on the surrounding ecosystem along with the importance of understanding and/or creating new, low-waste methods of mineral processing due to the need to balance economic prosperity supported by the mining industry with the responsible use of renewable and non-renewable resources.
