The United States Sports Academy, located in Daphne, Alabama, is a non-profit, independent, sport-specific institute that was founded in 1972. The Academy was established after the United States Olympic team performed poorly in the 1972 Olympics, as a result of the athletes lacking quality training and coaching. The programs offered by the United States Sports Academy were an education resource that provided the research, instruction, and service that were needed to upgrade coaching. Graduates of the Academy have become teachers, managers, coaches, researchers and healthcare providers in the area of sports at the recreational collegiate, professional, and Olympic levels.
The United States Sports Academy awards bachelor's, master's and doctoral degrees in sports science and management, as well as certificates and certifications in such subjects as coaching, fitness, and personal training. The Academy’s Distance Learning Program offers a flexible schedule that allows students to complete degrees and certifications online at any time and from any location. All of the Academy’s courses are available online.
