Master of Science in Teacher Education
The University of Tennessee-Knoxville

Program Details

Enroll in online teaching degrees and advance professional opportunities. Choose from two concentrations, depending on your background and career goals:

  • Educational Studies
  • Practitioner

The Educational Studies concentration with a specialization in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) with an optional endorsement in gifted education does not lead to teaching licensure. It is for those seeking to enhance professional knowledge and expertise, for those preparing to teach on the post-secondary level, or for those preparing for careers that do not require teacher licensure. While this online teaching degree does not lead to licensure, for already licensed teachers it may lead to an additional endorsement area.

The Practitioner concentration leads to initial teaching licensure in high-needs content areas, math, science, special education, world languages, and English as a second language. This program is designed for those who are interested in earning an initial teaching credential while serving as an instructor of record in a school.
