Program Details

The University of Alabama offers Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Arts degrees in Interdisciplinary Studies to the online student.  These written-intensive programs are a flexible option for adults seeking a broad-based education.  Instead of majors, students choose from a list of depth studies, including:

  • Literature, Art and Society
  • Science, Technology and Culture
  • Community Studies
  • Leadership Studies
  • Self-designed option

Academic advisors work closely with each individualized curriculum.  There is one on-campus Seminar requirement where students meet advisors and fellow online classmates.  Develop the knowledge and skills to research, analyze, and synthesize a subject of focus through The University of Alabama online.


  • Minimum of a high school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Offical transcript(s) 
  • A minimum high school GPA of 2.5 if graduated four or more years from application date OR 3.0 if you graduated high school less than 4 years from the application date
  • ACT/SAT scores (only if graduation less than four years)
