The seminary moved to Louisville, Kentucky, in 1877 and to its present campus on Lexington Road in 1926. Southern was one of the first theological institutions to pioneer doctoral-level study, and today Southern Seminary is one of the largest seminaries in the world.

Southern Seminary offers a full range of undergraduate and graduate degrees and certificates in biblical studies and theology, as well as Christian education and ministry. Southern Seminary Online Learning helps students from Mumbai to Memphis earn a Master of Divinity degree by taking online classes with the same world-class faculty who teach on campus. And, through hybrid courses, distance students can also complete their degrees at Sothern’s historic campus, enjoying the irreplaceable engagement and fellowship that characterize the on-campus experience combined with the flexibility of online learning.
