SUNY College of Technology at Alfred (Alfred State) had its beginning as a state school of agriculture in 1908 when it was created by an act of the state legislature. An important milestone in the history of the college occurred in 1948 when it was incorporated into the newly organized State University of New York (SUNY) system. Alfred State, a residential college of technology, provides career-focused education enriched by the liberal arts. With more than 70 dynamic majors—offering engaging coursework in both traditional classrooms and the real world—Alfred State provides students with unparalleled preparation.
