The Bilingual Education Extension Certificate Program at St. John’s University is designed for current teachers wishing to specialize or refocus their careers in teaching in bilingual educational settings. The program was developed in response to the need for qualified individuals to teach students with multi-language backgrounds within the state of New York. Students will study theory, background, and multicultural perspectives in working in bilingual and dual-language classrooms. The program will focus on expanding the specific skills needed in the student’s unique bilingual school setting.

Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP)
The Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP) now administers both NCATE and TEAC accreditation. Current accreditation status under NCATE and TEAC for education programs will continue through the accreditation term, during which they will be CAEP Eligible.
