Program Details

Sacred Heart University’s post-MSN Family Nurse Practitioner Certificate prepares RNs with a Master of Science in Nursing for careers as family nurse practitioners. The 24-credit program prepares RNs for the FNP certification exam through the American Nurses Credentialing Center or the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners. Upon certification, students will be eligible for licensure as advanced practice registered nurses. Upon completing the program, graduates will possess the ability to translate nursing science and other disciplinary perspectives into action, integrating evidence-based practice into their work. Graduates will be equipped to lead collaboratively within interprofessional teams, developing and evaluating plans of care that promote quality and safety outcomes using person-centered care principles. They will also have the skills to collaborate with strategic partners to implement health policy and advocate for equitable and sustainable population healthcare. Additionally, they will integrate complex systems-based practices to develop innovative and evidence-supported solutions that improve health outcomes across diverse populations, while applying best practices of informatics and communication technology.
