Program Details

Students interested in earning the National Electrical Code® Certificate must complete the specialized curriculum designed and offered by Penn Foster Career School. In the course Understanding and Applying the National Electric Code, students should gain an understanding of the National Electric Code, providing the necessary components of the code. Students receive training in structure, terminology, and applications such as load calculators, grounding rules, GFCI requirements, voltage drop calculations, and wiring requirements. Students learn residential and commercial classifications, single-family and multi-family classifications, and code requirements for health care facilities.

This program allows students to understand the purpose of the National Electric Code, which is essential for technicians, contractors, electrical assistants, and technologists.

Before enrolling, students should have a basic understanding of electrical concepts and some previous experience with electrical devices, calculations, wiring, and basic print reading.

Students interested in applying for the National Electric Code Certificate may fill out an online application, which can be retrieved on the Penn Foster website.
