Palo Alto College was founded in 1983, when local parents rallied together and demanded a higher education institution in southern sector of Bexar County. In 1987, a full accreditation status was obtained through the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. Palo Alto College is classified as a public, two-year institution and is recognized as one of the top Hispanic serving institutions. Palo Alto College operates with the mission “…to educate, nurture and inspire students through a dynamic and supportive learning environment, which promotes the intellectual, cultural, economic and social life of the San Antonio community.”
Palo Alto College offers associate's degrees and certificate programs, as well as workplace training and professional development services. Some of the degrees and certificates that can be completed online whenever and wherever a student prefers.
