Program Details

The Post-Graduate Nurse Educator (NE) Certificate from Ohio University helps nurses with an MSN from a regionally accredited institution obtain a professional certification that opens the door to nursing faculty or staff educator positions in a range of healthcare facilities. Students will learn teaching strategies, develop nursing curriculum and patient education materials, evaluate educational activities and create staff development opportunities.

In this 14-credit program, you will learn to serve in the essential role of a teacher, trainer, mentor and role model for nursing students. Position yourself to pass on your clinical expertise to the next generation. You will acquire advanced knowledge of the design, delivery, assessment and evaluation of nursing education programs in a variety of settings.

The program has been designed with the National League for Nursing’s (NLN) Core Competencies for Nurse Educators and will provide you with the concepts and skills needed to prepare for the NLN Certified Nurse Educator (CNE) exam. You may sit for the NLN CNE exam upon graduation. The program includes a hands-on Teaching Experience Practicum allowing you to use the evidence-based methods you’ve learned to solve real healthcare challenges through nursing education.
