Program Details

Prepare for a career working with a specific part of the student population, those with exceptional needs, with this online special education degree. Exceptional learners range from autism, visual or hearing impairments, intellectual disabilities, emotional and behavioral disorders, and other health impairments. You will learn to teach English as a Second Language (ESOL) as well. You may work within the general inclusive classroom or in an exceptional student education setting. 

The curriculum, which is regularly examined to ensure it is current, includes such courses as:

  • Educational Psychology
  • Foundations of Learning Disabilities
  • Introduction to Language Development and Speech Disabilities
  • Methods of Teaching Literacy in the Elementary School
