Established in 1897, Northwestern is a state-assisted, public, regional university located in Alva, Oklahoma. It is a member of the Oklahoma State System of Higher Education with a mission to “provide quality educational and cultural opportunities to learners with diverse needs by cultivating ethical leadership and service, critical thinking, and fiscal responsibility.” It is known nationally for its combination of high-quality academic programs and affordability.
