Program Details

The online Master of Soil Science program is designed to enhance professional skills and expertise essential to evaluating land to determine its uses.  Students will learn to evaluate land for uses such as wetlands protection and restoration, on-site waste disposal, forest management, horticulture, and agriculture.  The curriculum allows students to increase technical knowledge while developing field skills for understanding how soils should best be managed to maintain environmental quality and human health.


  • Two four to five-day field-based experiences required
  • Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university, or equivalent
  • Undergraduate GPA of 3.0 or higher
  • Official transcripts
  • Adequate training in mathematics, biology, chemistry, physics, and soil science
  • GRE test scores
