About New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology

New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology (also known as New Mexico Tech) was founded in 1889 under the name of The New Mexico School of Mines. In 1951, the New Mexico School of Mines underwent a name change and was given its current name, the New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology. The university’s mission is “to help students learn creative approaches to addressing complex issues, acknowledge state and national diversity by developing an inclusive learning environment, create and communicate knowledge, and solve technical and scientific problems.”

As a public institution of higher education, the New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology awards associate’s degrees, bachelor’s degrees, postgraduate certificates, master’s degrees, and doctoral degrees. For students who are unable to attend in-class learning sessions, New Mexico Tech offers several graduate degrees online. There are over 10 online graduate degrees and a few graduate certificates. Even though you are learning online at a distance, the live courses allow you to participate via video and audio with instructors and on-campus students. See and hear everything on-campus students see and hear in real-time with these online programs while still enjoying flexibility.
