Program Details

The online Safety & Hazard Prevention Certificate program provides the knowledge, skills, and credentials necessary to work as environmental health professionals or to continue to graduate studies within this field.  The curriculum teaches students about preventing physical, chemical, and biological hazards from adversely impacting human health or the ecological balances of the environments, and about maintaining acceptable levels of risk, especially when dealing with hazardous waste and other hazardous materials.  Additionally, students who choose the Safety and Hazard Prevention option must complete fifteen required courses and choose one elective from three options in this field.  The required courses are:

  • Environmental Health & Safety
  • Occupational Health & Safety
  • Solid & Hazardous Waste Management
  • Hazardous Incident Management
  • Environmental Risk & Safety Management
  • Hazardous Material Safety
