Led by evangelist George W. BonDurant and his wife, Sarah Presley, the institution gained accreditation by 1979. In 2009, the Board of Trustees chose to rename the school Mid-Atlantic Christian University. Today Mid-Atlantic Christian University is a private not-for-profit, four-year Christian institution of higher education, located in Elizabeth City, North Carolina. Mid-Atlantic Christian University upholds a mission to “impact the world by transforming ordinary people into extraordinary Christian leaders.”
Mid-Atlantic Christian University awards associate’s and bachelor’s degrees, in addition to offering certificate programs.
