Messiah University

Program Details

This online elementary education degree is built specifically for those who did not study education in their undergraduate degree. The Master of Education in Elementary Education degree will provide students from various majors with the knowledge and experience they need to achieve initial teaching certification. In addition, students who currently have a full-time or long-term substitute teaching position may apply for the Pennsylvania intern certification program.

Classes explore ways to create developmentally appropriate learning environments, systems for classroom management, and how to conduct learning assessments. Students will learn strategies for effective collaboration with parents and other educational partners. Graduates may sit for the Pennsylvania Level I teaching certification exam. Students from other states should check with their state board of education for reciprocity and any additional requirements.
