Program Details

Macomb Community College offers a Skill Specific Certificate Program in Information Technology – Programming – Java Programming. The hybrid format of this program offers students increased flexibility and convenience of attending parts of class during their free time.

The IT Programming – Java Programming certificate provides students with the knowledge and skills needed to become successful in entry-level programming positions. Students who fulfill all certificate requirements will be qualified for employment offers in areas where they will function as a systems analyst or a business application programmer.

Along with completing all work in the skill specific program students must also do the following:

  • Complete minimum of 5 credit hours and a maximum of 20 hours with a GPA of 2.0 or higher.
  • Students can apply approved industry standard certifications or similar courses taken at an accredited college towards this certificate.
  • Students must take a minimum of 25 percent of the total credit hours at Macomb

Macomb Community College requires students to complete 14 credit hours. Students will take the following courses: Database Design and Implementation with SQL and XML, Java 1 and 2 and Introduction to Mobile Development. Any questions can be directed at the program advisor.
