Program Details

The Doctor of Worship Studies was designed for those interested in studying worship theology. Students will have the opportunity to study topics such as ethnodoxology, balanced worship, corporate worship, thesis writing, and development of a worship pastor.

Prospective students must have a master’s degree from an accredited university. Throughout the program students must maintain a 3.0 GPA. Liberty University expects students to be involved in ministry and worship opportunities when they are available. Potential careers for individuals earning a Doctor of Worship Studies may include a music instructor, worship pastor, or a professor of music and worship.

This program consists of 45 credit hours, 12 of which have the potential to be transferred in from an accredited institution. Students will complete 33 of their credit hours online, and 12 hours of intensives, which are weeklong courses that take place on campus. Students may be required to complete courses such as Theological and Cultural Contextualization in Worship, Growth and Development of the Worship Pastor, and Advanced Seminar in Worship Studies.
