About Indiana University of Pennsylvania

Founded in 1875, Indiana University of Pennsylvania is a vibrant, student-centered learning community.  It is both research-based and teaching-focused.  IUP combines the academic opportunities of a large university with the highly personalized and intimate, learning-centered environment of a small college.

At IUP online, students find a variety of academic programs and resources for the taking.  Choose a traditional course of study, such as philosophy, English, or anthropology, or concentrate on a career-oriented, applied major, such as safety sciences or respiratory care.  Students can also pursue a degree online or in a blended format.

GetEducated Team Takes
Tony’s Take

IUP is mixed-positive, with a clear center. Faculty access is the headline. Small classes and one-on-one time come up often. Help is practical, not vague.

Tutoring, mentoring, and advising are part of daily progress. The academic tone is serious and career-focused. In communications, an internship is required to graduate. That adds workload, but it builds job readiness.

Outcomes improve with engagement. Students who use support tend to do better. Quality is not identical in every class. Some professors are harder to follow or less helpful.

IUP still reads as a good-value public option. The best fit is students who want personal support and can stay disciplined.
