Graduate Certificate in Taxation
The Graduate Certificate in Taxation is designed for students and current working professionals who do not have the time that is required to complete the Master of Science in Taxation. All of the program’s course may be completed through Golden Gate University’s online learning environment, CyberCampus. Campus-based courses will also be offered on the San Francisco, Seattle, and Lost Angeles campuses. Many of the program’s instructors are highly experienced professionals that bring a real-world education to the classroom.
In order to complete the program, students will need to have finished five courses for a total of 15 semester units. The 15 semester units are further divided into 12 Required Course and 3 Elective units. The four Required Courses are Advanced Federal Income Taxation, Tax Research & Decision Making, Property Transactions, and Tax Timing.
Students will learn a variety of concepts within different subjects of the taxation field. Some topics that will be covered are federal income taxation, adjusted gross income, taxable income, deductions, exemptions, taxation research tools, and nonrecognition property transactions. Students will also gain experience allocating items of income, installment methods, and Uniform Capitalization Rules.
Some of the courses may have prerequisites that need to be completed before enrollment. The prerequisites may be completed through approved transfer credit or by course completion at Golden Gate University.
