Program Details

A Master of Arts degree in Public History (Non-Thesis) is offered through Fort Hays State University.  This program is designed to prepare students for careers in museums, archiving, and cultural resource management agencies.  Students will take on six additional hours of classes in place of a thesis, with studies including but not limited to:

  • Historical methods
  • Historiography 
  • Museum studies

FHSU offers the opportunity for graduate students to take on teaching apprenticeships.  Advantages of becoming a teacher’s apprentice include one-on-one mentoring, professional development, conference funding, and more.  Students may also pursue a Ph.D. program upon completion of this master’s degree at Fort Hays State University online.
