Help Desk/User Support Technician Certificate
Eastfield College offers an online Computer Information Technology-Help Desk/User Support Technician Certificate designed to provide lower-level technical support skills necessary to assist customers, clients, or members of an organization. Graduates will be able to answer telephone calls and e-mail messages from customers who need guidance with technical problems. Graduates also learn how to diagnose the problem with attentive patience and guide the customer through problem-solving steps. Applicants should possess keyboarding competence as well as have an aptitude for systems analysis and communication.
Students must meet required Texas Success Initiative (TSI) standards as well as earn 25 percent of the college credits through the college awarding the degree. If the student plans to transfer to a four-year institution they should consult an advisor to discover the requirements for transferability of the courses offered through Eastfield.
This certificate is a 24-credit-hour program taught in two semesters. First semester classes include: Introduction to Computers or Business Computer Applications or Introduction to Computing, Introduction to Word Processing, and Introduction to PC Operating Systems. The second semester courses are: Introduction to Spreadsheets, Introduction to Database, and Personal Computer Help Desk Support.
