About Christian Brothers University
Founded on a Catholic tradition of serving God’s creation, Christian Brothers University is built on the premise of equality and inclusion for all. Located in lively Memphis, Tennessee, the school was first established in the mid-19th century, but did not truly hit its stride until the mid-20th century, when it offered its first engineering programs and became a full-fledged university.
Today, as a Lasallian institution, networked across the nation, CBU not only has a diverse student population, but a diverse offering of degrees. It has four schools, plus a dedicated College of Adult and Professional Studies: the Rosa Deal School of Arts, the School of Business, Gadomski School of Engineering and the School of Sciences.
The Lasallian philosophy is a mission-based education, derived from providing services to all, especially the poor and underserved. Through innovative and holistic approaches, these spiritual educational experiences are all a part of the Brothers of the Christian Schools.

Christian Brothers University offers a clear path to finish your degree. Classes are small, and professors are easy to reach. That personal setting helps many students stay involved, even in hard classes. It is a good fit for learners who want regular support, not a crowded classroom.
Cost is still an important part of the decision. For some students, tuition and other school costs can be tough to carry over time. Others feel the teaching and support make the cost worthwhile. Aid can help, but some students may still face gaps, which can slow progress when work and family demands are already heavy.
At Christian Brothers University, support is strongest in class. Professors are easy to reach and ready to help. Small classes give students more direct guidance. That personal attention can make day-to-day learning feel clear and steady.
Outside the classroom, service can be less consistent. Some students run into aid gaps or billing surprises that add stress. Even so, the core academic experience stays positive for many students, thanks to strong faculty support and close instruction.
Online classes at CBU focus on close contact with instructors. Small class sizes make it easier to reach professors and get help when work gets hard.
The coursework is serious and well planned. Classes can be challenging, but they have a clear purpose. This format works well for learners who want clear expectations and steady instructor support, not a hands-off experience.
Classes at Christian Brothers University run small, and that changes the learning experience. Professors know students by name and stay engaged. Teaching feels personal, not distant. The pace is serious, with coursework described as challenging but for the better.
That classroom strength is the school’s clearest advantage. Students who want close professor contact and a rigorous pace can find a strong fit here. Practical, hands-on skill building also appears in health-focused pathways, reinforcing a teaching style that connects classwork to real job skills rather than easy-credit coursework.
Christian Brothers University is a split experience. The classroom side is a clear strength. Classes are small. Professors know students by name.
Faculty are approachable and invested. The work is challenging, but useful. Cost is a major dividing line. Some find the education worth the price.
Others struggle with tuition and related expenses. Billing problems, including unexpected balances, add stress. Professor support is strong, but admin reliability is less steady. Overall, CBU fits students who want close faculty contact and rigor. Satisfaction drops when cost pressure and billing friction take over.
