Program Details
Learn to address the needs of K–12 students studying English as a second language with Brenau’s online English to Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) Endorsement. You can complete this nine-credit hour program as a standalone credential or incorporate it into an education graduate program. A bachelor’s degree, Level 4 teaching certificate and one year of teaching experience are required to apply.
The 100% online curriculum is focused on the most relevant topics in culture, language acquisition and teaching pedagogy. You will learn to be a culturally responsive educator who can support diverse students from all walks of life. Study language acquisition and development to understand language as a system and prepare to assess learning needs while applying strategies for teaching reading, writing, speaking and listening in ESOL contexts.
When you finish your program, you will be qualified to teach English learners across content areas. With the skills and expertise you gain, you can continue in your educator position or potentially advance into new roles in your school or district.
