Established by the Baptist General Association, Bluefield admitted its first students in 1922. Today, Bluefield College is a four-year, private, not-for-profit institution of higher learning, located in the southwestern city of Bluefield, Virginia. The school retains a vision to “seek to graduate servant leaders who understand their life calling and transform the world;” and a mission that states: “Bluefield College is an inclusive Christ-centered learning community developing transformational servant leaders.”
Bluefield College awards bachelor's and master's degrees and retains articulation agreements with a number of Virginia schools. Bluefield College’s Online Degree Program provides accredited distance education options for adult students that feature accelerated formats, allowing students with necessary credits to earn a degree in 13 months. Distance education degrees include studies in three schools:
College of Professional Programs
School of Education
School of Nursing
The eLearning environment focuses on concepts that mirror that of the real-world. Classes are taught by faculty with necessary academic credentials and with a commitment to the school’s Christian beliefs. Academic support, library resources, and eligibility for financial aid for full-time students are all accessible.
